19th Century Tea Pot Kettle With Owner's Note
Antique copper tea pot or kettle likely from 1800s or thereabout. Has a note inside from the previous owner showing some history.
No lid and has several dents and dings. Looks like it may have been mended at some point. See all photos. Likely best for primitive decor purposes at this point.
Stands almost 8.5" tall with handle down. 9.5" across and 12" across with spout.
Accompanying NOTE written in 1973 SAYS:
"Dearest Claire, This old tea kettle holds special memories for me and because of your fondness for antiques I thought you would like to have it.
Bill and I "settled" for it in a little antique shop in the quaint town of Gilroy, a few miles south of San Francisco in 1949. I say "settled" cause we really wanted the $100 spinning wheel to set by the fireplace, but in 1949 who could spend $100 on a spinning wheel!
Do hope you'll add it to your copper collection and whenever you turn to look at it, think of the happy young couple who first acquired it.
If this was in an antique shop in 1949 then it must be quite old!
